Welcome to the Movie News page. This
page brings all the news on sequels to films (e.g. Jurassic Park IV) and
television-to-movie conversions (e.g. The A-Team). For films I have particular
interest in I have separate features (just hit the links) while other stuff can
be found with the 'general' link.

General News
April 2005
Hobbit
Peter Jackson has stated he is interested in doing the film, but due to
legal issues expect about a four year wait! Ian McKellan is very
keen!
Shrek 3
Justin Timberlake has signed to provide the voice for 'young Artie' who
will eventually become King Arthur but doesn't want to... so it's up to Shrek to
train him up for his role as king, whilst dealing with his own fears of pending
fatherhood.
Puss Spin-Off
Madonna has signed to provide a voice for The Puss In Boots spin-off from the
Shrek series.
Casino Royale
Another Bond is on the way and it's a serious remake of the spoof Bond film
starring David Niven. Depending on which reports you believe there are
just three actors still in the frame... Daniel Craig (Layer Cake),
Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck) and Clive Owen (King Arthur).
Hopefully a decision will be made soon. I'm personally hoping for Owen.
The Poseidon
Adventure
A new remake is on the way - rumours stating that Aussie Heath Ledger
and Brit Jennifer Ellison will be starring.
More Chronicles
Of Riddick.
Following on from Pitch Black and Riddick, Vin Diesel is now starting
work on the third film.
Terminator 4
Whether Arnie will return or not, there WILL be a T4, and it is likely to be
set in the future, during the war against the Machines. Nick Stahl and
Clare Danes are both expected to return... and will we get a recast Kyle Reese?
Well, now that Arnie has some
'real power' he'd left the movie world, leaving the Terminator void to be filled
by... The Rock - the wrestler who found fame in movies such as The Mummy Returns
& The Scorpion King. Apparently
neither Nick Stahl or Clare Danes are to return for the fourth film as there
will be a 'jump' through time and the characters will be older. Arnold
Schwarzenegger has said he'd only do a cameo for the film if it was filmed in
US... and currently it isn't going to be, so we're looking at an entirely new
turn out for T4!
More Aliens and
Predators?
With the new Alien V Predator released last year, has it paved the way for
more films? Well, not sure about any more Predator films, but there are
definitely more talks about those pesky Aliens. There have already been
rumours that James Cameron was to produce Alien 5 (or will it be called
Alien 6 now?) while Ridley Scott will direct. The team up could be
exactly what the Alien franchise needs.

The A Team News
January 2005
Writer Assigned
To The Movie
Bond writer Stephen J.Cannell will be giving The A-Team movie a more
'serious' tone than the series, and will update the events from the Vietnam War
to more recent battles. Mr.T and Dwight Schultz are both expected to make
cameos.
Casting
No cast has been announced as yet, but here's some possibilities...
Hannibal - Tommy Lee Jones, Mel Gibson and even George Clooney have been
linked to the George Peppard's character. If any of these got it I'd like
to see Gibson in the role.
'Howling Mad' Murdock - originally played by Dwight Schultz, Jim Carrey,
Owen Wilson and Jack Black have all been linked. I'd love Carrey to get
it, but he may be too much, especially if they're going for more 'serious'
tones. Perhaps Wilson may be the better choice?
Face - less names have been linked to the role made famous by Dirk
Benedict, only really Brad Pitt.
B.A. - The hard man we all loved, who could possibly fill in Mr.T's
shoes? Two names have been put forward - Michael Clarke Duncan and Ving
Rhames. I'd prefer Rhames but I think Duncan will get it.
What about the original
'Team'?
George Peppard died a few years back so he won't be in it, but the others :
Dwight Schultz, Dirk Benedict and Mr.T have all been welcomed for cameo
appearances. One much talked about cameo would be Schultz's - possible
playing a Doctor in charge of the insane Murdock... the character he used to
play.
Anything about the plot?
Nothing, but you can probably expect them to make something really big and
cool at the end. Lots of explosions... and Hannibal to be 'on the jazz'.
Any expected dialogue?
"I love it when a plan comes together"
Will it be any good?
It better be!

Batman
VI News
April 2005
Christopher Nolan's Batman
Begins comes out in June... so I've decided to open the Batman spot up again
- in the look out for the next film.
Christian
Bale (Batman) has been rumoured to state that he will do another TWO Batman
films, and then he'll team up with Brandon Routh for a Batman/Superman movie.
Michael Caine
(Alfred) was originally reported to have signed on for THREE films, and it
wouldn't be a big surprise if we found the same about Gary Oldman
(Gordon)
Christina Ricci
has said that she wants to go for Catwoman in the next film. But will
Catwoman even feature considering Tim Burton covered that character in Batman
Returns?
Bat-Facts:
Batman begins is the fifth 'new age' Batman movie. Tim Burton started the
new roll with Batman and Batman Returns, while Joel Schumacher took over for
Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
In five films, there
have been four actors featured as the caped crusader - Michael Keaton, Val
Kilmer, George Clooney and now Christian Bale.
Villains featured so
far are: The Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Mr
Freeze, Bane, R'as Al Ghul and The Scarecrow. This doesn't leave too many
for the next film is they want to use new ones... perhaps Harley Quinn, Mad
Hatter, Man-Bat?

He-Man News
April 2005
John Woo is apparently connected to
the project to bring the cartoon hero to the big screen.
There has, of course, been a He-Man movie
before 'Masters Of The Universe' starring Dolph Lungren, Courteney Cox
and Robert Duncan McNeill. The film had He-Man come to Earth... it has
been noted that fans want the new film to be based on his home planet 'Eternia'
It is not known what the film will be
called... 'He-Man', 'Masters Of The Universe' and 'He-Man & The Masters Of
The Universe' are all options. It's also uncertain whether the film will
take on the 1980's cartoon series style or the newer 2002 series.
Casting is really only at it's rumour
stage but a couple of names have popped up. Daniel Lewis and Ryan
Kwanten are both connected with the lead role while Jennifer Garner
has been linked with his sister She-Ra... but surely Teela would be a better
option?
I grew up with He-Man, so I'll be VERY
interested in who they choose!

Jurassic
Park IV News
April
2005
Jurassic Park
FOURwards
Bits and Bobs have been circulating the internet concerning the fourth (and
probably final) installment of the dino-series. So what do we have on it,
so far?
Spielberg/Johnston
The director of the original and the first sequel still doesn't intend on
returning to direct probably giving the duties back to Joe Johnston who direct
the third movies. Spielberg is the one responsible for the plot though...
Writer's Block
Apparently the scripts for JP4 has not pleased Mr Speilberg, so it'll be a
while yet.. but as soon as the script's right the film is GO!
Cast
There have been many rumours abound, some claiming Sam Neill would be
returning, others saying that Jeff Goldblum would be instead, another
that Vince Vaughn and Alassandro Nivola would return from their
'secondary' status two join forces as the leads, and that Keira Knightley
was in talks to appear as an older version of Lex (originally played by Ariana
Richards in the first two movies). However, the plot news sheds light
that the only previous character to return will be John Hammond (played by Richard
Attenborough). Latest casting rumours state that
original cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Ariana Richards and Richard
Attenborough are all expected to return.
The Plot
Oh dear. It's brave... or stupid. Speilberg could
*possibly* pull it off, but probably only if he directed it. It would be
nice if the JP film franchise went out on a high, but it could be killed off if
this is a stinker. The current plan (apparently) is that the story will
revolve around an older army-force type who is assigned to go to the abandoned
islands where the first film took place and retrieve that shaving foam canister
that Dennis Nedry dropped. So far so good. It's the bit where he
ends up being taken to the Swiss Alps to a hi-tec castle where he is put in
charge of training a group of genetically enhanced dinosaur crossbreeds.
He'll be training them for combat purposes. This plot is definitely a
maker or a breaker!
Other info
For me the film is doing the worst thing possible. The dinosaurs will
be 'feathered' following recent discovered that Dinosaurs such as T'Rex did
actually have feathers. I'm sure scientists will be happy that Speilberg
is going with the science, but from a cinematic and continuity point of few...
it sucks.

Mission:Impossible
3 News
February 2005
Mission: Definitely Impossible
It had it's director and it had it's cast. It also had a 2005 release
date. Then it lost it's director and now is hopeful for a 2006 release
date.
The Director.
Originally was going to be David Fincher (Alien 3, Seven), but after that
fell through Joe Carahan (Narc) was brought on board. He walked
after alleged arguments with Tom Cruise and next in the directors chair
is Alias big man JJ Abrams.
The Cast
Tom Cruise will obviously be returning as Ethan Hunt, and Ving Rhames has
agreed to return as Luther Stickell. Newcomers to the franchise will be Carrie-Anne
Moss (The Matrix), 'proper thesp' Kenneth Brannagh (Mary Shelley's
Frankenstein) and new hot young thing Scarlett Johansson (Lost In
Translation). Creator of The Office, Ricky
Gervais has agreed to appear in the third Mission. Gervais has worked with
director Abrams before on Alias.

Dean Man's Chest News
April 2005
'Pirates Of The Caribbean: Treasure Of
The Lost Abyss'
Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow), Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) and Keira
Knightley (Elizabeth Swann) will be reunited in March to begin work on the
second (and third) Pirates film. Hoping the quality of the original will
be maintained, the same director and writers are all back. The second film will
feature Captain Jack Sparrow in debt ti infamous pirate Davey Jones - a debt
that will run into the afterlife. Jack manages to ruin Will and
Elizabeth's wedding plans.
Stellan Skarsgard will play
'Bootstraps' Turner (the father of Blooms character) while Jack Sparrows dad
will be played by Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards (who Depp based
his performance on).
Kevin McNally will be returning
(probably for both sequels) and will be joined by Taggert actor Alex Norton
as Captain Sam Bellamy and Naomie Harris as a gypsy queen. Chow
Yun-Fat will appear as Chinese pirate Cheung Po Tsai.
Bill Nighy
will play Davey Jones.
Original bad guy Geoffrey Rush is
in talks to appear in the third movie.
With the second film now underway, Jack
Davenport has also resumed his role from the first.
The first sequel should be released 7th
July 2006, with Pirates 3 hopefull released about 12 months later. Bloom
has stated, despite not having read a script for it yet, he's already filmed
some of the third film.

Star
Trek XI News
April 2005
With Star Trek:
Enterprise axed, and finishing in May, attention has been placed back with the
movie side of the franchise.
Although in very
early stages, Rick Berman claims to have an idea for the next film...
stating that it will apparently be set BEFORE ENTERPISE, which begs the
question... "How much of a 'Star Trek' can it really be, considering
Enterprise is the first starship?!?"
Personally I prefer
the original ideas of merging the casts of Next Generation, Deep Space
Nine and Voyager.
Here's my wish list:
I'd love to see Captain Riker (Jonathan Frakes) return to the Enterprise-E as
it's commanding officer, with Commander Worf (Michael Dorn) as his first
officer. Lieutenant Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) could be at the helm, with
Seven Of Nine (Jeri Ryan) - back in her silver catsuit - doing Data's old job as
Operations Manager. Colm Meaney could return to engineering as Chief
O'Brien and I'm sure by now there'd be a Longterm Medical Hologram (Robert
Picardo) on board.
Apparently,
Jonathan Frakes has been asked to direct once again (he directed First
Contact and Insurrection as well as a load of the television episodes)

It has been reported that stock footage

again be Clark's Kryptonian father Joe-El.
Laurie Out
Hugh Laurie has been forced to pull out of the role of Perry White now that his
TV series has been picked up for a second series. Ironically, the series
'House' is produced by Bryan Singer!

X-Men 3 News
April 2005
The Director
Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake)
The Cast
Patrick Stewart - Professor X
Hugh Jackman - Wolverine
Ian McKellan - Magneto
Halle Berry - Storm
Famke Janssen - Phoenix
James Marsden - Cyclops
Anna Paquin - Rogue
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos - Mystique
Alan Cumming - Nightcrawler
Bruce Davison - Senator Kelley
Shawn Ashmore - Iceman
Aaron Stanford - Pyro
Daniel Cudmore - Colossus
Apparently,
the Dark Phoenix will only be one of the storylines, and not the major one at
that! So what will be? According to reports The Sentinels will not
be featured... though General Kincaide will be...
New Mutants
Joining Xavier's X-Men ranks will be Angel, Gambit and Beast.
Beast will be played by a new actor (Steve Bacic had a cameo as Dr. Hank McCoy
in X2) and will be at his 'transformation' stage. Which means he'll be
blue and hairy. He'll apparently 'act like Morpheus in The Matrix'.
Gambit will be a minor character and will not enjoy the romance with Rogue as
that story has been pinched by Iceman. The biggest news is that Angel -
Warren Worthington III - may end up a female character! Though
contradicting reports state he'll be all male. HE'LL be a major character and
will probably be played by someone reasonably famous.
Storm and Cyclops
Halle Berry is down to return - for the moment. She'll only do it if
Storm is a bigger better character than in the previous two films. If not
she's out and Storm will be turned into another female character.... Emma Frost,
Pyslocke or Dazzler by any chance??? Meanwhile, James Marsden, was
upset to hear on the net he was hardly in X3 due to filming Superman
Returns. Cyclops is now reported to be a minor character this film - which
will be interesting considering the 'Dark Phoenix' storyline!
Jones for X3
Villain
Lock Stock actor Vinnie Jones (former footballer) has been confirmed as
Juggernaut, one of Magneto's Evil Mutants.. as well as younger brother to
Professor X!
ShadowCat
Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat) is being recast with a 17 year old actress,
presumably for a beefed up role, much the same as Pyro was. Katie Stuart
played her briefly in X2.
Wolverine
A spin-off film for Wolverine/Logan is being planned should Hugh Jackman sign
on for it. Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) and Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu)
could all appear. There's also a rumour that Anna Paquin (Rogue)
may cross over with him.
Magneto
As well as a Wolverine spin-off, a plans for a much darker Magneto story is
being planned. It will revolve around his early days - there for with a
new younger actor in the role. That said, it's hoped that Ian McKellan
will still appear as the present day Magneto.
