THE SHOW

Following the end of Voyager, every Trek fan held their breath as they awaited the fifth Trek series.  Star Trek had been taking something of a ratings battle since the end of TNG, and with a dud ninth movie, everyone agreed... the Star Trek franchise rested on the shoulders on this new series.

... and so far, so good!

The fifth series - created by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga - Enterprise (the first series not to carry the name Star Trek) is set 150 years from the present day and 100 years before Kirk... the federation doesn't exist yet, and Starfleet is new.  With only a handful of alien species known to the characters, the franchise has returned to it's roots... it's boldly going where no one has gone before... even the alliance between the humans and the Vulcan's is strained, as the pointy eared 'friends' seem to be holding humans back.

The series presents us with the 'first' captain of the Enterprise - Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula), and with Trek's first regular female Vulcan T'Pol (Jolene Blalock) it looks to be the sexiest Trek yet.  Also, those worried about the continuity of the franchise... fear not... with Braga at charged it is no surprise that the show's faceless enemy is from the future...

Despite the introduction of universal translators, it is new, and not always working properly, so Sato's job as Communications officer is still very necessary!  She is a very keen linguist but hates the idea of being 'trapped in a tin can'.
